Mane Adelaide Leprosy Centre (MALC) is the largest NGO in Pakistan, working in the field of Leprosy Control for the last four decades, in the provinces of Sindh, Baluchistan and NWFP as well as in the Northern Areas and Azad Kashmir.
There are presently 157 Leprosy control clinics in the above areas most of them housed in government health facilities and manned by government health workers, who have been trained at MALC’s training institute in Karachi, which together with an eighty bedded hospital forms part of the organizations headquarters. The hospital serves as a secondary referral facility, not only for the entire country but also for neighbouring Afghanistan. A major part of MALC’s free-of-cost treatment and rehabilitation services are funded by, the German Leprosy Relief Association (DAHW).
